Hi Steve,
Just wanted to put finger to keyboard to thank you for all you have done for Rufus.
As you gathered from us at our consultation we rescued Rufus from quite appalling conditions and treatment, and quite naively thought that love and food would be all that he needed to live a happy life with us. How wrong we were.
At the start we put the biting of his lead, and us if we were not careful, as just him not being used to his lead. Later on when he really began to focus intently on anyone that got to close to him we began to get worried, and then he bit a child that got too close cycling by him.
Fortunately it was more clothing than skin and the childs mother appreciated that it was not intentional and did not want to inform the aurthorities, but Louise was beside herself and wanted him rehomed. We have grandchildren of all ages who reguarly come to visit so what were we to do?
And then we saw your advert.
We started off with a good half hour chat on the phone while you listened to our woes and then booked a consultation to meet our Rufus.
Right from the start you helped us to feel more relaxed about what we had taken on, and that there was a future for Rufus with us if, we were prepared to take the time it would take to rehabilitate him.
From the time we started and continuing on now Rufus has adored his Uncle Steve, you have never raised your voice to him or given him a Ceasar Millan jab to his stomach, it has always been your calm confidence that has enabled Rufus to learn what is asked of him, and for him to do so happily.
When we finaly got towards using an e-collar you spent three lessons making sure we knew how to use it properly and not abusively as that would be entirely counterproductive to the months spent getting to this point before we even put the collar on Rufus. Incredibly because of your patience, even now I still cannot feel the E-collar on my fingers at the level we have Rufus responding to.
If it wasnt for you Rufus would have been euthanised, no animal sanctuary would have had the time or money to rehome eight stone of Bull mastiff no matter how cute we could have said he was. So you saved his life for us and for that we will be eternally grateful,
even if his wind it can clear a room.
Sincerely yours
Rufus

Steven,
Many thanks for all the work you have put in with Flo and I. I feel that it really has been a great success and thanks to your holistic views and perceptions into dogs behaviour I really feel that I can work with and understand my dog.
When I got Flo 8 months ago I started to realise that taking on a Gordon Setter wasn't going to be the easiest and with all sorts of information and advice flying at me I struggled to see which way to go. Fortunately I was advised to join your free consult classes and from there on in I could constantly see lights at the end of the tunnel. We've taken Flo from an overly bouncy puppy to a calm and well mannered dog, even though most people I meet tell me that Gordon Setters are highly strung and one of the toughest dogs to train. I felt that your training program took time to look at all aspects of a dogs needs and behaviours and you not only trained the dog but you also showed me as an owner how I should behave and interact with her.
Steve I honestly can't thank you enough and I'm quite sure I wouldn't have the freedom and confidence in my dog if I hadn't been fortunate enough to make it to your puppy classes in September.
One quick story from this weekend. I took Flo up to the farm on Sunday when I was doing some tractor work, she followed me behind the tractor at a safe distance at all times, didn't interact with another dog when we drove past it and I called her off, I called her away from food that was left over from a BBQ the day before. We had a great time up in the garden, then when we came back down she stayed in a sit stay in front of children running around and playing on bikes, restrained herself from eating cake from a table and didn't run off chasing cars with trailers or other tractors. Oh and all of this without her lead....
Couldn't have done it without you.
Thanks so much for everything
Rob
